Eric W. Barfield

Eric is a Certified Aviation Insurance Professional (CAIP) and also holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a B.S. degree in Aviation Business Administration, he is Secretary of the NBAA Safety Committee and an active member of the South Carolina Aviation Safety Council. In addition, he is a Multi-Engine Commercial Pilot with Certified Flight Instructor and Instrument Ratings.

A frequent National Business Aviation Association speaker, Eric has also authored several insurance and risk management articles. Prior to joining the firm in 1998, he was a general aviation underwriter for USAIG in their southeast regional office.

Eric participated in Hurricane Katrina relief trips to the Gulf Coast and previously served on mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Taiwan. He enjoys running (surviving the 2007 Myrtle Beach Marathon with a PR of 3:33), biking, teaching Sunday School, and spending time with his family. Happily married since 1990, Eric met his wife, Kathy, at the airport! Together they are the proud parents of Daniel, who was born in 1997, and stay busy keeping up with him as well as two golden retrievers.





Eric Barfield was recently selected as Secretary of the NBAA Safety Committee. The group is presently at work updating the association's VLJ training guidelines and IFR range standards.
